Latest Success

Congratulations to Wirral Early Intervention Service user Football Team for another superb Season in Everton Football Club’s “Imagine your Goals” Football League. In conjunction with the “Time to Change” anti stigma campaign, the programme aims to improve social inclusion and wellbeing for people with mental health problems, as well as tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.  Having won the league the last two years EI had another great campaign finishing Runners up in the league and reaching the Final of the Partner Cup.

The team were invited to Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club to collect the awards at an annual presentation night where EI met ex Everton players and were presented with the trophies. Team Coach Dean McShane who runs a Football session every Friday in Birkenhead’s Bibby Centre said, “This season we had a lot of new players as many had been discharged and moved on. The team did extremely well this season and the new players settled in well. Many of the team have completed their FA Coaching Badge and one service user has just started his Level 2.”

Though these accounts come from a broad range of service users with often very different backgrounds, they all tell of how with support, time and determination each individual has managed to move forwards on their recovery journey, to achieve the outcomes they rightly deserve.

We are very proud of the progress all of our service users make towards their goals and would like to thank everyone that shares their story for the inspiration they provide.

Remember you are not alone and the Early Intervention Team are here to help you.
