The Big Life Film

A group of young people who have accessed the Wirral Early Intervention team have collaborated with The Open Door Centre to produce a short film exploring the experience of mental health and coping strategies. The film outlines a Stress Vulnerability approach to mental health and aims to destigmatize the experience of it from first-hand experience. Our young people designed every aspect of the film alongside a professional film designer from FreakBeat films. The film is now finished and can be viewed below!

Our young people said:

“Working on the film has improved my confidence and allowed me to see how far I’ve come”

“I’ve learned more about mental health and it has given me opportunities like voluntary work”

“I’ve made friends and learned more about the film making process, which is something I want to go into in the future”

A premiere event was held in Café Tabac in Liverpool, which was attended by the young people who produced the film, people who have accessed services, staff and representatives from other agencies.

The film will now be shown to schools on the Wirral as part of ongoing mental health awareness work. Our young people plan to continue to be actively involved in this.
