About Us
We are Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) Early Intervention Service. We offer specialist mental health support and treatment to people from the age of 14 upwards, who are experiencing symptoms of psychosis for the first time. We also work with families and professionals, to raise awareness of psychosis and to provide advice and guidance so that they feel confident in supporting someone in their recovery.
We aim to start supporting people as early as possible after the first sign of symptoms, to ensure they recover more quickly and can carry on without too much disruption to their everyday activities; which is why we use the term ‘Early Intervention’.
But it’s never too late to ask for help, so if you are concerned at all that you, or someone you know, might be experiencing psychosis, please get in touch.
Getting help as soon as possible is the right thing to do.
Sometimes people are reluctant to seek help for their symptoms at first, they may not realise they are unwell, be worried about how people may react, or feel their experiences are very personal to them. The Early Intervention Team are friendly, approachable and non-judgmental; and we’re here to help you.
You can contact us directly by phone to discuss your concerns, or ask someone close to you to do that for you. There is no need to be referred by your GP, although you can if you want to.
Don’t have a GP, or living in an area outside of the CWP footprint? This NHS website can help you find a GP service close to where you live.
We accept referrals directly from you, or from ANY other concerned individual, agency or service; it can be family, friends, GP’s, teachers… you name it we will listen. We want to make the process of you getting help as quick and simple as possible.
A referral is simply a request for us to support someone that is or might be experiencing psychosis; this could be you or someone you know.
